The Willy Jeep was aquired originally as a pumper by the Seward Volunteer Fire Department as was used
at many fire scenes. Today, the Willy is used for Mountain Rescues, and in the winter it helps plow
snow. It can carry two personnel in the cab and then two more with climbing harnesses lock into the
bar on the back end of the Jeep, standing on the tailboard. The top of the Jeep is equipped with straps
to hold down an Akio to carry the patient out.
The Willy was most recently used in a rescue
of a fallen racer during the 2000 Marathon Race on the 4th of July.
