1917 LOWELL CANYON FLOOD

 

The waterfall on Lowell Point Road is actually the outfall from Lowell Creek.  Before being diverted, the creek used to run down what is now Jefferson Avenue. In 1917 heavy rains caused the creek to overflow its banks, causing widespread damage to much of Seward.
